New Year's Eve is one of those party nights with extremely high expectations and often very little delivered. Instead of ending the night crying with a piece of Domino's pizza in hand, do a little planning to have the best night ever! Here are some of your options for a night that won't send you into the new year filled with regret:
- Throw a house party! House parties in your own home are great because you can decide exactly who you want to usher in the new year with. You can invite your favorite people, serve your favorite food and drinks, and never have to pay for a 200 dollar uber.
- Get tickets to a bar or club! Pretty much every bar and club in a metropolitan area will be impossible to get into on NYE without tickets. Pick your favorite bar or do some research to try some place new. Look out for special group pricing for you and your crew and anywhere that offers champagne toasts or included appetizers. If you're up for the cost, getting a table where you can be assured a place to sit between hours of dancing will be a great way to not start the new year with calf cramps.
- Spend a romantic night in! Have a special someone? Forego the crowds and spend New Year's Eve with the person that you hope to spend the next year with. Grab some champagne, make some chocolate covered strawberries, and watch the ball drop from the comfort of a very cuddly couch.
- Visit First Night! Most cities now have First Night celebrations that include activities for people of all ages, many of them free. These usually include dance parties, fireworks, ice sculptures, live bands, and more! If you don't mind being outside with tons of people, this is definitely somewhere that you can feel the excitement of the new year all around you.
- Travel! If you're really looking for something new to do, hop on a boat, plane, or train and bring in the new year with a new adventure. Spend NYE on a beach, mountain, or safari for a truly instagrammable new year!
